Home Academy Association

The Home Academy Association (HAA) is comprised of the parents or legal guardians of the students at Good Shepherd Catholic Academy in partnership with the administration, faculty, and staff. The mission of the Home Academy Association is to support and enrich the educational endeavors of the academy. In a faith-based environment dedicated to the education of our students, the HAA must mirror the traditions, standards, and teachings of the Catholic faith. Through fund raising, teacher recognition, support, and school improvements, the organization works to promote a connection from home to academy. It is the objective and duty of the HAA to keep in mind the welfare of students with regards to all issues. This includes:

  • Provide spiritual opportunities and fellowship to develop a strong and meaningful Christian community among academy families, faculty, and administration.
  • Provide a vehicle of communication between parents and the academy.
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Provide interesting and informative programs relevant to the needs of the academy community.
  • Promote and provide opportunities of community service for students.
  • Create a greater appreciation for Catholic education.

All parents and guardians of Students of Good Shepherd Catholic Academy are members of the HAA and are encouraged to actively participate in the activities of the HAA.

The HAA will be overseen by the academy principal. The Academy Principal will designate a teacher as the education liaison to the HAA.

The HAA structure will include the following officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

  • Those interested to serve as one of the above officers will submit their names in writing, in June, to the academy principal, who will organize an election to be held by the end of the school year.

The following are the committees of the HAA of Good Shepherd Catholic Academy:

Social Events Committee: The Social Events Committee organizes events sponsored by the HAA throughout the school. These social events allow school families to meet each other and also provide a social outlet for school families.

Publicity Committee: The Publicity Committee is responsible for publicizing school activities and events to parents, parishioners, and the local community. The group strives to obtain free publicity in local papers by sending photos and articles on school events.

Fundraising Programs Committee: The Fundraising Programs Committee consists of the ongoing programs that raise money for the school. This committee develops programs to increase participation among the school and parish families. N.B. – There will be a separate Card Party Committee as part of the Good Shepherd Catholic Academy HAA.

Card Party Committee: The Card Party Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and staffing the annual card party.

Lunchroom Parents Committee – The Lunchroom Parents Committee is the network of volunteers that give their time on a weekly, bi-weekly, or substitute basis to help supervise children during lunch and help with lunch clean up.

Homeroom Parents Committee: Homeroom parents work with the teacher of the class they are supporting to plan class events and organize parent volunteers for the different events. They also act as the communication link with parents in their respective class.

Front Desk Volunteer Committee: The Front Desk Volunteer Committee is comprised of volunteers who give their time on a weekly, bi-weekly, or substitute basis, to help the faculty and staff with tasks such as answering the door, signing in visitors, and sorting materials to be distributed to students.

Buddy System Committee: The Buddy Committee welcomes new school families to Good Shepherd Catholic Academy and answers questions the new family may have regarding the school. Each new school family is assigned a specific “buddy” family who contacts the new family shortly after registration and early in the school year.

Sports Day Committee: Help the kids enjoy their day of fun at the end of the year. Volunteers are needed for this June event.
